Stock news · updated daily
The semiconductor sector recently absorbed a noticeable shock, pulling back sharply over the last month. While broader market jitters regarding artificial intelligence investments and geopolitical trade tensions prompted risk-off behavior among some investors, underlying liquidity flows tell a distinctly different story.
SOXS and SOXL see trading volumes surge to 1.53 and 1.48 times their averages, respectively, as semiconductor ETFs post sharply divergent daily moves.
Few, if any, chip names have been left unscathed from the brutal selloff. But it's a chance to hunt for bargains.
CNBC's Jim Cramer said investors shouldn't give up on semiconductor stocks despite the recent sell-off, arguing that strong demand for chips continues to support the industry's long-term growth. Cramer highlighted Micron's long-term customer agreements and the expanding use of CPUs from Intel and AMD as reasons the sector's underlying fundamentals remain strong.
Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (NYSE:SOXL) experienced a significant Power Inflow alert, a key bullish indicator that is closely tracked by traders who value order flow analytics, specifically institutional and retail order flow data.
The Philadelphia semiconductor index, known as SOX, on Friday rose to its highest level in three months.
Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3X ETF (NYSEARCA:SOXL - Get Free Report) gapped up prior to trading on Tuesday. The stock had previously closed at $142.29, but opened at $148.94. Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3X ETF shares last traded at $149.9270, with a volume of 15,267,417 shares traded. Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3X ETF Price Performance
I remain bullish on semiconductors, supported by strong AI demand across GPUs, custom ASICs, memory, networking, and foundries. SOXX trades at roughly 20x forward earnings, which I do not view as excessive given current growth. The problem is timing: Semiconductors have rebounded sharply while 10Y yields exceed 5%, Brent remains above $100, and the Fed is tightening again.
