Comcast's Q3 earnings beat estimates, but broadband subscriber losses and competition fuel restructuring plans as wireless expands and Peacock profitability improves.
Comcast remains a strong buy due to its high margin of safety and deeply discounted valuation, despite recent share price weakness. Connectivity faces cyclical and structural headwinds, but value is underpinned by conservative assumptions and potential for operational improvement. The Content & Experiences segment, especially Peacock and a planned NBCUniversal/Sky spin-off, offers significant value-unlocking catalysts.
As it continues to feel the squeeze on its broadband and pay-TV operations, Comcast executives said today the company will take a $1 billion charge for the current fourth quarter that will include layoffs as part of an ongoing revamp of its core connectivity business of broadband, pay-TV and wireless.
Comcast Chairman and Co-CEO Brian Roberts said staffers are eagerly anticipating the forthcoming split of NBCUniversal from the company's broadband, pay-TV and wireless division. “Really, there's an energy and excitement with the proposed separation in both organizations,” Roberts told Wall Street analysts Thursday at the end of the company's third-quarter earnings call.
Comcast will take a fourth-quarter restructuring charge exceeding $1 billion. Comcast converts 70% of its free wireless trial lines into paid accounts.
Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) Q3 2026 Earnings Call Transcript
Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA, XETRA:CTP2) reported a 4% decline in adjusted earnings per share to $1.07 in the third quarter, as pressure on its connectivity business offset stronger results from streaming and film operations. Revenue fell 6% year on year to $29.3 billion, while adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) declined 6% to $9.1 billion.
Although the revenue and EPS for Comcast (CMCSA) give a sense of how its business performed in the quarter ended September 2026, it might be worth considering how some key metrics compare with Wall Street estimates and the year-ago numbers.
